Just another Word

The Bop Shop

We received this archival photo from former KAOS DJ Boppin’ Bill Buckles!  In Bill’s words: “On the air, circa 1987… “It’s THE BOP SHOP with your host Boppin’ Bill playing real gone wild cat swingin’ juicy succulent sexy Rockabilly music, so let’s goooooo…..Baby!!”

Do you recognize this mysterious programmer?  You might know him as one of the hosts of our longtime bluegrass show, American Anecdotes!  When this photo was taken, he had just joined the family of AA hosts, which at the time (circa 2008) was broadcasting every Thursday night from the third floor of the College Activities Building.  Thank you, mystery host, for sticking with us throughout two moves, and continuing to bring independent bluegrass artists to the airwaves!

Broadcasting from the Basement

Decades ago, KAOS lived in the basement of the College Activities Building at the Evergreen State College.  Since then, we’ve resided on the third floor (where the Flaming Eggplant, a student-run cafe, currently operates), broadcasted out of a trailer when the CAB was re-modeled, and now have found ourselves at home first floor of the CAB.  This is what the basement studio once looked like.
